Background

The NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service was established in 1997 as a result of NSW Health's plan, Health Services for a Culturally Diverse Society (1995). The plan identified the need for the development of a co-ordinated statewide approach to provide information about health issues and health services to people who speak languages other than English.

Our Service Promotion

Multicultural Communication has two resources that illustrate its role in providing important health information to CALD communities in NSW. Helped by talented artist/photographer, Annah T Dellosa, they present vivid images of people in a range of age groups, reflecting today's Australia.

  • Promotional booklet (Multicultural Health Communication Service. Making health communication easier)
This booklet, a small sized 14x14cm, gives an overall picture of MHCS's many roles, with illustrations of some of our marketing campaigns. It also describes the role and function of the website.
  • "Year in Review" Presentation Folder
An easy to read information folder (A4 size) provides more detail of earlier MHCS campaigns in 2005, including photos of the launches. The campaigns included smoking cessation , Breast Cancer Awareness and research for the NSW Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care (DADHC) into how people of CALD background respond to and use information about Health andCommunity Care Services (HACC) in NSW
