BEYOND MATURITY BLUES - Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Program
COTA NSW Seniors Peer Education Centre (NSW SPEC) uses a peer education model to deliver health information sessions to older people across the State. Our model of service delivery is a particularly effective way of getting health education messages across, as people tend to place a high value on the information they receive from their peers. COTA NSW SPEC backs up this dynamic by providing information that is accurate, independent, credible and relevant to the needs of its target audience.
This program is an initiative of beyondblue; the national depression initiative where the CaLD pilot projects for Italian, Greek, Chinese and Vietnamese groups are scheduled to end June 2010.
It is understood that seniors from a CaLD background can have problems accessing good quality information on their health. We believe this pilot program meets that need by recruiting, training and supporting seniors from these Italian, Greek, Chinese and Vietnamese communities to deliver the beyond maturityblues sessions in their own language to their peers.
NOW AVAILABLE in Italian and Greek - Book now for these sessions.
For further information on the pilot project contact SPEC on 9286 3868.
