Translated Health Resources for Refugee Communities
Project name
Translated Health Resources for Refugee Communities
Background
Currently, there are critical gaps in translated health information for people from refugee, refugee-like and asylum seeker backgrounds. The project will systematically audit health resources available in languages spoken by refugees, identify gaps in health information and develop and translate resources to address these gaps.
Project aims
The aim of the project is to increase health literacy of people from refugee, refugee-like and asylum seeker backgrounds across New South Wales.
The objectives of the project are to:
- Increase accessible, relevant, and culturally appropriate resources available to refugees; and
- Increase best practice within NSW Health services and programs around the development, translation and dissemination of health information for refugee communities.
Partners and funding
The Multicultural Health Communication Service is leading the project with partners:
The project was proudly funded by the NSW Government through the Refugee Health Flexible Fund for the period 2021-22 to 2022-23. For more information about the Fund and other funded projects, visit the Refugee Health Flexible Fund page.
