Rouba and Andreas

I first met Andreas 40 plus years ago. My parents had a milk bar in Earlwood and Andreas had a Greek biscuit shop next door. I would often go and stare at his kourabeides in the window and wait for my dad to buy me and my siblings some.
One Friday afternoon I was asked to attend to Andreas for service, I had no idea who he was at the time. I told him I hadn't been to Earlwood in such a long time and my parents once had a milk bar here and I remember there was a Greek biscuit shop next door. We went on our walk and as we walked up Homer Street, I said to him: “Look! The Greek biscuit shop is still there.” He then walked inside and asked me to follow him in. I was surprised at first that the people inside knew him. He then went on to tell me it was his shop and he remembered my parents’ milk bar next door.
Who would have known after 40 years I would go back and meet him in person! He gave me kourabeides and said: “Share them with your family”. I would have been around 12 years old at the time. It's such a small world.
