In Somalia we call our grandfather awowo. I believe I have a special connection with him. In Somali culture, and my religious beliefs, it is important to respect your elders. Every week I go to my grandfather and talk about our old memories and he tells me about his childhood. I learnt some of my values and beliefs from my grandfather. He taught me how to pray, make wudu, attend the mosque with him, and he also taught me right from wrong.
