Extreme heat or heatwaves are periods of unusually hot weather. In Australia, extreme heat events are responsible for more deaths than all other natural hazard events combined. Hot weather can affect everyone, however those at greater risk include older people, people with existing medical conditions, babies and young children, outdoor workers, socially isolated people, people who are homeless and pregnant women. Climate change is resulting in more hot days and more intense heatwaves. Now more than ever, it is important to know the risks of heat, who is at risk, how to prepare, and how to protect ourselves and others. No publisherEnvironmental HealthHeat2023/11/14 13:30:00 GMT+11ResourceFolderResources by Language

Influenza (flu) is a highly contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. There are two main types of human influenza viruses: A and B. There are also many sub-types and strains. Flu is more serious than the common cold and severe cases can result in breathing difficulties and pneumonia. People in NSW can die from flu-related illness. Flu can occur throughout the year but is most common in autumn and winter. In most flu seasons there is more than one strain circulating in the community. No publisherInfectious Diseases2023/05/26 17:00:00 GMT+11ResourceFolderEvent Calendar 2022
