To address health literacy of WSLHD consumers regarding the safe use of medicines and meet the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS), a Consumer Medicines Resource was developed by Auburn hospital and WSLHD Translation Service. The development of this resource ensures patients at WSLHD are provided with information about medicines, have better understanding and compliance with treatment plans and contributes to reduce unnecessary admissions into hospitals. The Resource consists of a health literacy booklet and a series of high risk medicines fact sheets including: Warfarin, Endone, Insulin, Amoxycillin, Xarelto, Antibiotics, and a Consumer Evaluation Survey. The resource was developed into 8 languages.
